A Note About Kubota Mini Excavator Brush Cutter Recommendations
Weight is an important consideration when looking at a mini excavator brush cutter. This is because we often use the brush cutter with the arm fully extended, reaching out from the excavator. We also tend to lift the brush cutter over objects while it is fully extended. Using too heavy of a brush cutter in these circumstances could result in tipping.
When determining the maximum weight of a brush cutter for each model, I used the maximum lifting weight with the arm fully extended off the side of the mini excavator.
This is usually the most restrictive weight; therefore, if the brush cutter can be safely lifted in this dimension, it should be safe to raise in all directions.
Of course, just because you have respected the maximum weight does not mean you will not tip the mini excavator, as operator technique and terrain features come into play.
Kubota KX033-4 Mini Excavator
The Kubota KX033-4 is the next step up in Kubota mini excavators, and its additional weight and hydraulic flow require larger and more powerful attachments.
The KX033-4's operating weight is nearly 7,400 pounds in the canopy version, and the three-cylinder diesel engine produces over 24.8 horsepower.
Like the smaller models, the KX033-4 comes with two auxiliary hydraulic circuits and a case drain. The auxiliary hydraulic circuits are adjustable up to 15.8 gallons per minute.
Kubota KX033-4 Auger Drive Attachments

Kubota KX040-4 Mini Excavator
The KX040-4 is where we see our first big increase in engine horsepower, increasing to 40.4HP. The version with a cab has an operating weight of nearly 9,500 pounds.
Like the smaller models of Kubota mini excavators, the KX040-4 has two auxiliary hydraulic circuits and a case drain line. However, an additional feature in the KX040-4 is that the operator can program up to five predetermined auxiliary oil flows in the computer's memory for use with specific attachments. The maximum hydraulic flow rate is 17 gallons per minute.
