Skid Steer Snow Pusher
Types Of Skid Steer Snow Pushers
Snow pushers are the most straightforward <a href="https://skidsteersdirect.com/collections/winter-skid-steer-attachments" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">snow removal attachment</a>, but the design will vary by brand and model. Here are a few key differences to look at when comparing models.

<h3 style="color:#ffffff">Curved or Straight Mouldboard</h3>
The moldboard is the back blade of the snow pusher, and it determines how the snow will behave once it's in the snow pusher. With a curved moldboard, the back of the snow pusher curls forward at the top. When you have a straight moldboard, the back of the snow pusher stays vertical.

<br>
<h3 style="color:#ffffff">Curved Mouldboard</h3>
A curved moldboard makes the snow curl forward after it enters the snow pusher. This helps prevent the snow from spilling over the top of the snow pusher, making snow clearing more efficient. Curved moldboards are seen on most snow clearing blades for skid steers.

<h3 style="color:#ffffff">straight Mouldboard</h3>
A straight moldboard is less common but is still offered by some manufacturers. With a straight moldboard, the snow is likely to pile up and spill over the top while operating, meaning it requires more precision from the skid steer operator. Straight moldboards are often more affordable, have longer service lives, and are preferred by some customers.
<h3 style="color:#ffffff">Pullback Bars</h3>
Pullback bars are a great option on any snow pusher. A pullback bar is a rubber cutting edge that's mounted on top of the snow pusher. The design of the pullback bar allows the skid steer operator to tip the bucket forward so the rubber cutting edge contacts the surface. Once the rubber edge is on the surface, you can reverse the skid steer to "pull back" the bar, which cleans up any residual snow left behind after clearing with the snow pusher.

Some pullback bars have a steel edge rather than rubber for scraping the surface.

<h3 style="color:#ffffff">Low Profile Snow Pushers</h3>
Some snow pushers are designed with "low profiles." This design gives the snow pusher a lower height and more of a curve to the moldboard. With a low-profile snow pusher, you'll enjoy better visibility and greater maneuverability.
As long as you have a mid-size (50 to 70HP) skid steer and reasonably good traction, you will be able to operate a snow pusher. Snow pushers are normally manufactured to be quite wide, so covering your tracks is not normally an issue. If you would like to get more into the details of how much weight your skid steer will be pushing, keep reading below.

<br>
<h3>Volume of Snow</h3>
Calculate the volume of snow that can fit in the snow pusher. Take, for example, a six-foot-wide snow pusher that is 38" deep and 36" tall. The volume of snow to fill this snow pusher is around 57 cubic feet. Keep in mind that there are likely to be air pockets, and the snow is likely to heap up in front and on top of the snow pusher, so this is a rough number only.
<h3>Whats the weight of the snow in my pusher?</h3>
A cubic foot of snow weighs anywhere from 5 to 20 pounds, depending on how wet it is. Let's say you often have wet snow in your area, so our 57 cubic feet of snow will weigh around 1,100 pounds.

<h3>How Much Does a Snow Pusher Weigh?</h3>
<br>
Skid steer snow pushers weigh anywhere from 500 to 1,500 pounds, depending on the size and manufacturer. 750 pounds is the average weight for a 6-foot snow pusher. If we add 750 pounds to 1,100 pounds of snow, your skid steer is going to have to be able to push around 1,800 to 2,000 pounds when you consider friction.
