TDM Twin Disc Mulcher | Promac Equipment

Disc & Drum, two is better than one

Promac’s groundbreaking design twin disc mulcher offers the best of both worlds. The high productivity of a disc unit coupled with the safe & reliable performance of a drum. Have your cake and eat it too, enjoying the most elevated performance option while keeping costs down. You’ll enjoy high visibility, debris control, and low center of gravity attributes that keep your mulcher stable and safe in your environment. The Twin Disc sets a new bar for owners and operators in the mulcher market.

Through extensive development, customer consultation, and rigorous testing, the twin disc mulcher combines much of the feature-rich technology found in our other products and takes them to the next level. Powered by two radial piston motors, requiring 36 GPM @ 4000psi, this unit produces high torque even at low RPMs where standard hydraulic motors stop producing. The two counter-rotating discs destroy everything in their path and work in unison with three counter anvils to produce a consistent, uniform mulch size without reprocessing. The frame structure is made with high-strength steel and controls the debris flow. Exceptional visibility lets you see precisely what is, and has been, cut without repositioning. These features, combined with economical tooling, create a mulcher that is efficient to run, easy on the wallet, and enjoyable to watch!

Twin Discs

when two are better than one. Maintain a low center of gravity and increase your cutting width, making for a stable platform compared to what single disc offers. The cutting point is the middle frame, with mulched material dispensed from and center along the debris path. Thanks to smaller discs, the TDM has a faster spool-up, providing more production time and, thus, more production.

Counter Anvils

The machined and replaceable counter knives are a big part of what endows the TDM with its highly efficient mulching performance. They make for a consistent chip size and prevent jamming by ensuring it only bites off as much as it can chew. By limiting the overall size of material input, disc decay is kept to a minimum, allowing the material to be processed as efficiently as possible

The Motors

Lengthened production time is achieved thanks to radial piston motors. Typically, low rpm in bent axis and gear motors means low torque. Radial piston motors deliver the best low-rpm torque ratings, keeping the mulcher running even when heavily loaded.

The Frame

The frame is lightweight and strong, keeping the center of gravity closer to the cab, ensuring a safer (and more enjoyable) mulching experience. Thanks to reduced disc diameters, the frame can be shrunk and brought closer, cutting down on the bouncing and instability found in single disc units. High-strength steel is used in strategically located wear plates to keep this frame sturdy for years of use.

The Tooling

A single tooth is used on the top, bottom, and sides to keep everything simple and efficient. This design choice makes for simpler parts replacement, reduced delivery times, industry-wide standardization, and cost-effective pricing.
