What is a Mini Skid Steer Rotary Tiller Attachment?
A rotary tiller attachment for your mini skid steer (also known as a Rototiller) is a tool that enables your mini skid steer to till the soil.
Tilling the soil uproots and over turns weeds, loosens the soil and mixes organic matter into the top soil. This can be a difficult job without mechanical assistance.
The attachment attaches directly to your mini skid steer using a mini universal quick attach or Bobcat mini coupler. The hydraulic lines are then attached to harnesses power from your auxiliary hydraulics to turn a square blade carrier. This blade carrier supports a set of curved tines that dig into the soil, loosening it and tilling it and turning it over.
Mini Skid Steer Rotary Tiller Considerations
Firstly, consider what depth and width you will require of your rototiller attachment. Common depths are 6” to 8”, while widths are commonly 48” to 56”. The width should cover the wheelbase of your mini skid steer.
Hydraulic flow requirements of the tiller attachment should match what your mini skid steer is capable of producing. Standard flow auxiliary hydraulics are acceptable on most mini rotary tiller attachments.
Additionally, consider if the tiller works in both forward and reverse directions, if the blades are replaceable/ reversible, and if the tiller is direct drive or chain driven.
